Welcome to The Gathering Place Country Bed and Breakfast Retreat! My hope is that you will find my home a place to pull away from your cares and busy lives for a quiet time of rest and reflection. A time to draw closer to our Creator and a time to quiet your soul in a country setting enjoying the simple pleasures of life. And whether it’s watching the early morning mist rising off the pond, rocking on the front porch while watching the deer and other wildlife, hiking the trail around the pond hoping to catch a glimpse of the Blue Heron or Crane that regularly flies about, fishing the stocked pond, or simply sitting on the dock in quiet reflection; we specialize in keeping life simple. This is a place where you can listen to the silence and count the stars all the while enjoying the comforts and conveniences we all have come to enjoy.
We have two guest suites to choose from during your stay with us. Our Master Suite is on the ground floor with a queen size bed and spacious adjoining bath. You can feel your cares slipping away as you step into the jetted tub for a relaxing soak or you can choose to take a quick shower. This suite also has its own separate outside entrance leading to a shaded sitting area.
The Loft Suite is upstairs and overlooks the dining room and great room below. This suite also contains a private room with a queen size bed and attached bath. The Loft Suite has three additional full size beds in the outer loft area and is perfect for those small retreat groups or girls weekend away, scrapbooking parties, or small family groups.
We believe privacy is important so will rarely have both suites booked at the same time giving you total access to the kitchen, dining room and great room during your stay. Because some like to sleep late and others are early risers we will serve breakfast at the time you request. Our menu will include an Amish casserole, fresh fruit, homemade jelly, bagels and cream cheese, milk, juice and coffee.
The Gathering Place Retreat Center, located within driving distance of Kansas City, Springfield and Joplin, MO and Fort Scott, Kansas is the perfect place for those seeking a romantic getaway, those wanting a quiet retreat in the country away from the noise of the city, or even for the corporate traveler wanting more than just a hotel. We also cater to the parents and families of our own local Cottey College for young women and will gladly accommodate those needing extended stays with special rates. We are also working on hosting luncheons, small weddings, family reunions and small retreats. Give us a call to see if our facilities will work for your get together!
